Rab

Rab is an island in Croatia in the Adriatic sea, just south of Rijeka. Its western coast is covered with a thick Mediterranean vegetation that reaches the beautiful sea shore

How to reach Rab?

The easiest way is certainly by car: from Rijeka you continue south (follow the indications for 'SPLIT') along the coastal road till you reach Jablanac where leaves the non-stop ferry to the island. You can also get to Rab by bus (not very comfortable): from Trieste (Italy) a bus leaves early in the morning to Rijeka where you get the bus to Rab.

Why Rab?

The island of Rab is the perfect place for those who love nature and tranquility but also some gay life: on the island there is a vast legal nudist area belonging to the Croatian nudist federation FKK.The nudist area ends with two bays and a beautiful rocky beach where is the gay area. Don't think you'll find here the big crowd of Mykonos or Ibiza: everything is more relaxed and quite. Further more there is a splendid pine wood right by the beach offering shadow, fresh air and the opportunity to cruise for the local fauna...

How to reach the nudist beach?

You can reach Kandarola beach by boat (two possibilities) or by car.

1. From the harbour of the old town, in front of the Imperial Hotel leaves the Taxi Boat (20 Kune retourn, approx. 2.6 Euro) that take you to the entrance of the nudist beach. Departures every hour.

2. From the harbour of the village of Palit (5-10 minutes walk from the town of Rab), just close to the Thalassotherapy building, get the Taxi Boat (15 Kune retourn, approx. 2 Euro - departures every 10-20 minutes) to beach, that is located in the peninsula right across at short distance, asking to get off at the nudist beach - FKK in Frkanj peninsula. Once you get off the boat go straight across the wood until you reach the sea on the other side of the peninsula (just follow the crowd) and then turn right following the foot-path until you reach a booth where you'll pay the ticket to enter the nudist beach (7 Kune, approx. 0.9 Euro). Continue, with the sea always at your left till you reach a restaurant. You're nearly arrived to the gay beach: shortly after you'll pass a small circular bar made of stones, follow the path uphill and get across the promontory facing you. It takes about 20 min walk to get here after you get off the boat, but it is really worth the effort!

3. The beach can also be reached by auto: from Rab follow indications to Kampor. After the S.Eufemja Church, by the restaurant Eufemja, at your left you'll find the road to the Hotel Eva of Suha Punta. Here the road stops and you can park the car in the hotel parking. Go down on foot toward the sea, once you reach the concrete path, turn left. You'll reach a small wooden booth where you'll pay the ticket (7 Kune, approx. 0.9 Euro) to enter the nudist beach.. Follow the path on your right to get to the gay beach.
